How Waitless reports openings and wait times
Openings and wait times on Waitless come from the ABA providers themselves. Every listing shows the date the provider last updated it, listings that go stale come down until the provider reports again, and any state or metro figure we publish will show how many providers it is based on.
Where does availability come from?
Participating providers report their own openings, wait estimates and the insurance plans they take, including Medicaid where they accept it. Providers update openings weekly, so wait estimates stay current.
What does a wait estimate mean?
A wait estimate is the provider's own estimate of how long a new family would wait for a first opening, as of the date on the listing. Waits vary by insurance, setting and location, so estimates are shown by insurance where providers report them. Confirm the current wait with the provider when you call.
How are listings kept current?
Every listing shows when it was last updated. When a provider stops updating a listing, we take it down until they report again, so the availability you see always carries a recent date.
How will state and metro figures be reported?
Waitless plans a quarterly waitlist report by state, built from dated provider reports. Any state or metro figure we publish will show the number of providers behind it and the dates the reports cover, right next to the figure. Until there is enough data for an area, we show no figure for it.
Is the openings panel on the home page real data?
It is an example. The "ABA openings near Dayton, OH" panel on the home page is labeled Example view and shows what a listing looks like. Its figures are illustrations, not reports from real providers.
What if a listing looks wrong?
If an opening, wait estimate or insurance detail looks out of date, tell us through the contact form and we will review it.
Our editorial policy covers how guides are written and dated, and the ABA waitlist glossary defines terms like opening and intake.
